Allergic responses are IgE mediated and immunological in nature [1] and the microbiome is known to be involved in the education and tonic of the immune system [2,3]. The relationship with the microbiome is confirmed by different types of studies in asthma, atopic eczema, food allergies, and hay fever [4,5]. Interventions with pre- and probiotics in pregnant women and their children have been shown to have preventive and curative effects in atopic eczema [6,7] and food allergies [8,9].
